Academic Year Application - Housing Selection Process
What is the Academic Year?:The Academic Year Application is for students who plan on staying in campus housing for the Fall & Spring Semesters (ex. Fall 2020-Spring 2021).
What is Housing Selection? To apply for campus housing, new students need to complete the housing application, pay the $500.00 deposit, and select where they would like to live. A housing assignment is the actual building and room the student will live in. Students at Academy of Art University have the unique privilege to pick exactly where they’ll be living from what is available via the online Housing Selection system.
Continuing Students: Students currently living in campus housing may select their housing assignment for the next school year by participating in the Renewal/General Room Selection process every April. Students will have the opportunity to remain in their current housing assignment or select a new space on campus.
New Students: Students who are new to campus housing participate in the Room Selection process starting in May and ending on July 1st. During this time period, New Students will have the opportunity to select their housing assignment.
Applications received after Housing Selection: Students who apply after their Room Selection process has ended receive their housing assignments on a rolling basis.

Spring Only & Summer Application - Housing Assignment Process
Students who are incoming for the Spring Only or Summer semesters, will receive a housing assignment via email from the Department of Housing & Residence Life based on room preferences submitted during the application process.
Please be advised that submitting preferences does not guarantee a specific housing assignment. Housing assignments are based on availability at the time of application.

How do I access the Application?
The student housing portal is accessible on all browsers through your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can access the portal at any time to complete an application for the upcoming period. (ex. Academic Year Application, Spring Only, and Summer Application)
Your general log in information with “@art.edu” will log you in to the system:

In order to access the portal, please be advised you must be enrolled in a minimum of 1 Class with the Academy of Art University.
What if I'm on Academic Probation?
Important Note Regarding Students on Academic Probation: Students who are on academic probation and are unable to register for classes will be redirected to a separate page where they can note their interest in campus housing for the next school year. Students who cannot register for classes until a later date MUST contact the Department of Housing to ensure that they receive a housing assignment for the next school year. Students will be able to complete a housing application specifically created for students on probation which will alert the Department of Housing of your intentions to live on campus once you are able to register for classes.
